I work with adults, adolescents, and couples who want to learn new skills and coping strategies, find meaning in crisis and life, repair damage from trauma, and reach their life goals. I can help you address issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse recovery, grief and loss, chronic illness and pain, stress management, anger management, effective communication, assertiveness, and stress-management/relaxation response training.
I believe that a counselor serves as a guide, teacher, mentor, encourager, supporter, and accountability-partner. I am a supportive, solution-focused, strength-based counselor. I believe that counseling must be customized to match your needs, goals, and personal situation. I also believe that everyone will experience mental health difficulties at some point in their lives and that counseling is an amazing opportunity to grow, increase self-awareness and understanding, develop spiritually, learn healthy coping strategies, improve relationships, and create a more satisfying life.
I am dedicated to providing quality service, cost-effective treatment options, and flexibility in scheduling to best meet the needs of my clients. I currently provide individual counseling, couples counseling, and am available to provide psychoeducational groups and workshops for organizations or churches. I offer income-based sliding scale fees. Self-payment for your counseling allows you to have more control over your private information, your therapy options, and the length of counseling desired.
I am an in-network provider for some insurance companies and Employee Assistance Programs including, but not limited to:
- Aetna
- BestCare EAP
- Blue Cross/Blue Shield
- Cigna
- DeerOaks EAP
- Department of Labor FECA/OWCP
- Wellspring EAP
I am a trained PREPARE/ENRICH provider for Premarital and Couples/Marriage Counseling. I have completed the Psychophysiological Assessment and Intervention education program approved by the Biofeedback Certification of America. I am also completing training from the Gottman Institute for Couples/Marriage Counseling.
My past experiences include internships at UT Southwestern Medical School’s Rehabilitation Center in 2000, the Eugene McDermott Center for Pain Management in 2001, and the HealthSouth Brain Injury Rehabilitation Day Treatment Program in 2002.
